Vitamin D

Did you know that recent studies of Vitamin D have found it to be even more important to our well being than previously thought?  No nutrient has spent more time in the medical headlines over the past few years than Vitamin D.

It’s main function is to build healthy bones and teeth. It helps us absorb calcium and phosphorus which is especially important for children, whose bone and tooth growth may become delayed or distorted if they do not get adequate supplies of his vitamin.

Studies have shown that low levels of Vitamin D may increase depression, hypertension, heart disease and diabetes. The benefits of Vitamin D are many. It releases energy in the body and has been shown to reduce the effects of Parkinson’s disease, as well as, some types of cancer.

So how do you get the vitamin D you need?  

It’s not called the sunshine vitamin for nothing. Get outside and absorb it naturally through the sun AND find a supplement that’s right for you. Plus eating foods rich in Vitamin D such as salmon, tuna fish, egg yolks and cheese will start you on your way.
