Did you know vitamin C does more than just fight the common cold?  Vitamin C is one of the most powerful supplements in keeping us healthy. It is essential to immune function. Humans don’t produce it, and our adrenal glands require massive amounts of it when under stress.

Relatively small doses are required for our day to day needs, but higher doses are required to ward off or fight other ailments. Vitamin C helps reduce inflammation that occurs in sickness such as colds, cancers and even burns. It’s also essential for the production of collagen, a substance found in all tissues in the body.

Reams of published research attest to the healing properties of vitamin C in human diseases including asthma, atherosclerosis, cancer, diabetes, high triglycerides, Parkinson’s disease, pre-eclampsia, and ulcers  Most research concurs that vitamin C significantly reduces death rates from all causes. The best sources of vitamin C can be found in citrus fruits and berries such as acerola cherries. Veggies high in vitamin C include broccoli, peppers, potatoes and Brussels sprouts. “C” for yourself why this vitamin packs a powerful punch.

It’s easy to take Vitamin C for granted and underestimate it’s potential. But that’s a bad idea according to medical doctor and author Thomas Levy. Dr. Levy believes that Vitamin C is your most vital antioxidant and one that can improve whatever ails you.

In decades of practice and research, Levy has seen just about every annoying symptom improve with Vitamin C supplementation. From difficulty getting out of bed in the morning to muscle aches to energy sags, minor joint pain, arthritis, and tension headaches. He doesn’t claim that all go away but they improve. And some symptoms can literally disappear.

Studies have basically shown that vitamin C itself will help reverse osteoporosis but there’s no way you can possibly get enough Vitamin C strictly through diet. You need supplementation. Unless you have kidney disease, Dr. Levy says there’s no need to be concerned about taking too much. He recommends taking a gram of vitamin C every hour or so until you feel better. If your skittish about taking large doses, start with a small amount and gradually increase it.
